This very large terrestrial navigator's globe floor model stands 56" high (slightly over 4 and half feet tall) and has an Old World Italian-style map stretched across the textured surface of the globe. The globe itself sits in heavy wooden cradle with solid brass compass fitted to the very top and a full die-cast meridian.The cradle also features the legend  on the top surface of the octagonal top surface of the cradle. The pillared legs have been painted a glossy black with brilliant gilt accents as well as bun style feet. The globe is a model and sits on a screw, not a continuous-spinning dowel. It can only go so far in on direction before falling off its axis, but too far in the other direction and it tightens so it can not move at all. The piece was most likely manufactured in the the 1990s, commercially, and does not have a maker's mark of any kind visible. It measures 56" high, has a 42" diameter, and weighs upwards of 150 lbs. Overall, this item is in good condition but has been recently repaired; the base showed some separation and some leaning. It does show minor cosmetic signs of wear from both age and use.
