This antique rocker was given as a gift from a grandmother to a granddaughter in 1998 but it is much older than that. Manufactured by the well-respected furniture company Heywood Wakefield, the chairs is made from wicker with a wide solid spoon back that ends right above the seat and opens into a set of open-weave braids the connect the back to the seat. The crest rail and arm rests area are comprised of rounded smooth weave, perfect for comfortable lounging. The legs are short and narrow, with spooling detail on the front and an exaggerated curve on the rockers. The seat was once upholstered wicker but was replaced with board and stuffed upholstery. The seat is removable. The upholstery is a silken peach lace. On the bottom of the seat board is an inscription from the grandmother to her granddaughter. The chair stands 36" high, 27" wide at its broadest point, and is 19" deep.  This piece has seen a lot and there is some slight damage to the looser wicker along the skirt of the chair  and the more open weaving across the crest rail.  Please consult images, and message with any questions.
