This vintage highboy was manufactured from solid mahogany in the 1940s by Georgetown Galleries, which was based in Huntington, WV before closing down in the early 1960s. Georgetown Galleries was famous for reproducing beautiful well-constructed 18th century style furniture, especially Federal and Chippendale. This piece is done in the Chippendale style with its tongue and groove molding, brass batwing and bail pulls and escutcheons, reeded chamfer front edges, and elegantly detailed ball and claw front feet. There are six total drawers on the piece: on the upper "chest" there are three drawers, graduated in depth and size, each with a double set of brass pulls; the bottom "chest" is separated from the top by a series of ogee moldings. The bottom three drawers are also graduated in size and depth with the double brass pulls. The top drawer on the lower chest features additional removable sliding dividers for accessories or small cloths. This piece measures 54 1/2" high, 36" wide, 22" deep, and weighs approximately 125-150 lbs. This item is in very good to excellent condition, with only a few very minor cosmetic signs of wear from age or use. Please consult all images and message with any questions.
