This flax wheel is made from oak and has been beautifully varnished and maintained. Because of that, the age is a tad bit indeterminate but it is at least a vintage item, over 30 years old. It is a horizontal wheel with a tripod table and single treadle, with a minor's head spindle. It is still functional but will need a new treadle pull string as the rawhide one currently attached is too delicate for use. The item measures 38" long, 38" high, 21" wide at the front and 11" wide back on the spindle. The wheel alone has a diameter of 24" and there is a very slight wobble to the wheel when spinning.This piece is in very good vintage condition but still has the typical, though light, marks from age and use on the wood.
