This lovely medium-sized garage neon features the Polly Gas brand name in brilliant red neon directly down the middle over a background of yellow and black lettering. At the top there is printed, unlit Polly Gas medallion logo and as the base of the piece there is the green and black parrot logo over the brand name. The entire piece has been bordered on bright green neon. Polly Gas was seen mostly on the west coast, specifically in California and Oregon between 1920 until around 1960. Not much is known about the company and there is some conflicting information out there. It is believed that Polly Gas was started as a chain of  independent gas stations as far back as 1910-1925 and was bought out by another company, Wilshire Oil of Los Angeles, during the Depression. Apparently around 1960 Wilshire Oil was itself bought out by Gulf Oil and the Polly Gas name was replaced with Gulf. The neon measures 43 - 43 1/2" long, 6" wide, 4 1/2" deep, and weighs approximately 30-50 lbs. The piece is like new and is in very good to excellent condition. There are very few signs of wear to the steel casing or the neon tubes themselves. The power supply also looks recent but please consult all images and message with any questions.
