This turn-of-the-century oak chair features inverse teardrop side rail finials, pressed floral motif design into the crest rail, slender knobbed hand-turned spindles, and a wooden seat cap. The seat once had an inset of either woven rush or cane but it was replaced with the wooden cap as a quick fix. The repair occurred sometime during the 1950s when those types of caps became an easy and popular method of "repairing" antique oak chairs like this one. It is easily replaced with a high quality faux leather or fiber cap or can be re-laced with cane for the more period-sensitive aesthete.  The chair measures 42" high, 18" wide, 18" deep, and has a seat height of 18". This piece is in fair to good condition. The seat is a wooden replacement for woven rush or cane and is in fair condition. This is an antique and there are age and use appropriate signs of wear to the feet and legs. Please consult images and message with any questions.
