This solid wood and iron ship's helm steering wheel has a diameter of 41 1/2" and weighs 26 pounds. Originally produced around the early 20th century, the aged iron reinforcing the outer wheel and the eight turned baluster spokes displays advanced-age appropriate signs of warping and beveling. This wheel has likely been repaired multiple times; the central key-holed iron shaft is missing one bolt, the shaft was reinforced with wood (that is now obviously advanced in age) to support the carved handle spokes. It was painted a bright lacquer orange at some point, and there are areas of light blue paint drips. This authentic antique wheel is a great piece of history, and its desirable rustic-style ensures it would become the focal point in any nautical themed room.
