  • This lovely antique piano was manufactured by Starr Piano Company as part of their Remington Pianos & Organs line. Based out of Richmond, Indiana, Starr was established in 1893 and got a reputation for building and selling high-quality, and beautiful, instruments. While mostly known for their top-of-the-line Starr pianos, Starr created the Remington line as a more affordable alternative to the growing middle class while still offering the high-quality they were known for. Remington was actually one of many, with each of the other lines geared toward offering specific items and price points to a variety of demographics. Starr Piano Company was one of only a handful of American instrument manufacturers that were able to survive the Great Depression and continued to produced pianos until 1950. This upright piano was manufactured in 1908 and bears the serial number of 74170 as well as the numbers 2627 on the key cover. It is made in Provincial Cherry and features gilded floral scroll work motifs on a stippled field over the sound board cover. The piece still has its original casters but newer casters have been added for ease of movement. The key is missing and the escutcheon has been damaged. The piano was recently tuned and repaired and has an excellent sound. It measures 57 1/2" high, 64" long, 27" deep, and weighs between 1750-0200 lbs. This piano is in good condition, having been recently repaired and tuned, but does has cosmetic signs of wear, from age and use.
