This Edwardian era fan is done in celluloid, lace, and hand-painted linen. Elaborate floral motifs are artfully from the scalloped lace fringe all the way down over the celluloid fins. Ornate carvings on the fins were replaced with delicate painted curlicues and floral embellishments. The piece has been preserved, matted and framed in brass shadowbox lined in black velvet. The brass frame is painted in shimmering gilt and copper and features a cast gesso pediment of curled and woven ribbon. The back is lined in brown paper and is already strung for hanging. The piece measures 26" long, 18" wide, 2 1/2" thick, and weighs approximately 3-5 lbs. This item is in very good condition and shows only minor signs of wear to the frame from age and use.
