This little rug is stunningly vibrant, done in expertly dyed shades of fire-engine red, indigo, and a deep dark crimson. It was loomed and hand-knotted from the highest quality wool in the Zanjan region of Iran sometime at the start of the 20th century. It bears the geometric patterns traditionally used in that region as well as its trademark color schemes. This rug is lovely, yes, but it does show signs of age and use related wear. There are several threadbare areas where the pile has been forcibly pulled free and there is a stain along one side. For all this, the weave is still tight and finely knotted, with the fringe still in very good order. Please consult images, and message with any questions.
