  • This unique traveling barber's chair was originally produced in the mid 19th century, and measures 33" high, 24" wide, and 25 1/2" deep overall. Made of gorgeous medium tone walnut and upholstered with black leather, this unusual chair features traditional American Eastlake style carvings including delicate relief frame panels with gentle scrolls and scallop decorative carvings throughout, a pierced back with intricate turned balusters that separate end-matched typical Eastlake designs carved on the two back rails. It has a chair crest rail with tapering beveled crown molding and a burled cornice panel inlay and high relief arm scrolls, supported on thick, serpentine-cut single walnut panels with smooth beveled edges and interior relief outline. It has a wrought-iron fixed pressure-release child seat, upholstered with leather and framed by relief carvings; measures 9" wide and 8 1/2" deep. The adult cushioned leather seat has a simple scalloped and relief carved apron; measures 17" wide and 16 1/2" deep. The entire chair rests on a wrought iron swivel base, which is raised on four splayed scroll legs that each feature applied beveled edge ornamental panels. This piece is in very good condition, displaying only the typical marks of an item of its age and use. Please consult all images and message with any questions.
