This set of three American Primitive chairs are handmade from a North American softwood and were produced in the early to mid 19th century. While the frames are original, it is possible that the woven seats have been replaced within the last half century. Handmade chairs like this were common before the invention of mass production. Primitive furniture was commonly built by farmers during their off season in order to supplement their income, and were seen often in homes of all incomes until about 1830. These primitive chairs are adult-sized and constructed by amateurs so the dimensions will vary. Seat heights vary between 16 and 17 inches. Overall chair heights are between 34 and 35 inches. Overall widths are between 16.5 and 17.5 inches, with a depth of around 15 inches. These chairs show signs of exposure and extreme age but they are still structurally sound and can easily hold a full-grown man. Please consult images and message with any questions.Item code: 0215 CO
