This high back chair was most likely manufactured sometime in the 1940s. Made from waxed oak, it features a narrow high back with inverted crest rail between two high side rails with narrow block finials. The back splat is a modified flat stick back with a long-stemmed tulip cut into the center splat. Single stretchers support the tapered legs ending in block feet. The seat is a lightly stuffed upholstered insert done in a sateen fabric striped in salmon, gold, and coral. This item measures 42" high, 17 1/2" wide (at its broadest point), 17" deep, with a seat height of 19". It weighs approximately 6-8 lbs. This piece is in good condition but does show minor signs of age and use. The fabric on the seat does show several stains and spot of discoloration but, as this is an insert, it would be simple to reupholster or add a different insert.
