This Western Auto Supple Co. Truetone D-705 floor model radio was manufactured starting in April 1938. Produced in Kansas City, MO, it was designed as a broadcast receiver or a tuner after WW2. It is designed to receive broadcast, shortwave, amateur, police, and ships frequencies although much of those have changed with the shift to satellite and digital. It still has its original electromagnetic dynamic LS (moving-coil with field excitation coil) 30.5 cm loudspeaker as well as its oak console and push button controls. All of the buttons are wooden or Bakelite and the displays are all cast brass in Art Deco designs. The console measures 41 1/2" high, 25" wide (at its broadest point), 16" deep, and weighs between 30-50 lbs. This antique radio is on good condition, showing only the typical signs of cosmetic wear seen in antique and vintage items. The radio turns on and can receive some signals but would require recapping and an antenna to work in optimal condition. Please consult all images and message with any questions.
